We built this application with a simple goal: to help friends remember and celebrate each other's special days without the noise and clutter of traditional social media. Because we value the trust you place in us, we want to be completely transparent about how we handle your personal information.

This Privacy Policy is written in plain, everyday language. We have deliberately avoided using confusing computer jargon so that you can easily understand exactly what information we collect, why we need it, how we protect it, and what choices you have. 1. Our Core Privacy Philosophy

Before we get into the details, we want to share our guiding principles regarding your privacy:

You Own Your Relationships: Your friends are your friends. We only help you connect with people you already know.
Minimal Information: We only ask for the information we absolutely need to make the app work. If we do not need it, we do not ask for it.
No Selling Data: We will never sell your personal information or your friends' information to advertisers or marketing companies. Our goal is to celebrate birthdays, not to sell ads.
Secure Connections: When we look for your friends on our app, we use advanced safety measures that ensure we never keep a readable list of your phone's address book.

2. The Information We Collect

When you choose to use WishYou, we collect certain information to create your account and provide our services. Here is exactly what we collect:

A. Information You Provide Directly Through Google

To make signing up easy and secure, we ask you to log in using your existing Google account. When you do this, Google asks for your permission to share a few specific details with us. We collect:

Your Name: So your friends know who is sending them a birthday wish.
Your Email Address: So we can contact you with important updates about your account or the app.
Your Profile Picture: To make your profile recognizable to your friends.
Your Date of Birth: This is the core of our app! We need to know when your birthday is so we can remind your friends to celebrate you.
Your Phone Number: We use your phone number as your unique identifier. This helps us confirm that you are exactly who you say you are, and it helps your real-life friends find you on our platform.

B. Information From Your Address Book (Contacts)

To make the app magical, we need to know which of your friends are also using WishYou. To do this, we ask for your permission to look at the contacts saved in your Google account.

What we look at: We only look at the names and phone numbers saved in your address book.
What we DO NOT do: We do not copy, save, or keep the readable phone numbers of your friends.
How we keep it safe: Instead of saving a friend's phone number, our system instantly scrambles their phone number into a long, unrecognizable code (a secure digital fingerprint). We throw away the actual phone number and only keep this scrambled code. When one of your friends joins the app, their phone number is scrambled the exact same way. We match the two scrambled codes together to connect you. This means we can connect you with your friends without ever keeping a list of their private phone numbers on our systems.

3. How We Use Your Information

Every piece of information we collect is used to make your WishYou experience better. Here is exactly how we use it:

To Create and Manage Your Account: We use your name, email, and picture to set up your profile and keep your account secure.
To Build Your Friend Network: We use the scrambled codes from your address book to find "mutuals." A mutual is someone who has your phone number saved, and you have their phone number saved, and you both use WishYou.
To Send Reminders: We use your friends' birth dates to send you friendly nudges and reminders when their special day is approaching.
To Deliver Birthday Wishes: If you write a birthday message or use our system to generate a fun greeting, we use our platform to deliver that message to your friend on their birthday.
To Communicate With You: We may use your email address to send you helpful tips on using the app, respond to your questions, or let you know about important changes to our rules.
To Keep the App Safe: We monitor how the app is used to prevent bad behavior, stop fake accounts, and ensure everyone is treating each other with respect.

4. Google's Specific Safety Rules

Because you use your Google account to log into our app and share your contacts, we must follow a very strict set of rules created by Google to protect you. We want to explicitly confirm that:

We strictly follow the Google safety policies for accessing your data.
We only use the information we receive from Google to provide the core features of the WishYou app (reminding you of birthdays and helping you send wishes).
We do not and will not use any of your personal information, your contacts, or your messages to train artificial intelligence programs or machine learning robots.
Your address book data is used strictly to build your personal network of friends within the app. It is never transferred to any outside company.

5. Who Can See Your Information?

We believe your information should stay between you and your real friends.

Your Mutual Friends: Only people who are confirmed as your "mutuals" (meaning you both know each other and have each other's phone numbers) will be able to see your full profile, your profile picture, and the exact date of your birthday.
Our Support Team: If you ask us for help, a member of our support team might need to look at your account details to fix your problem. They are bound by strict confidentiality rules.
Legal Authorities: In the extremely rare event that a court of law or government authority legally demands information to solve a crime or prevent harm, we will comply with the law. Otherwise, your data stays with us.

6. How We Protect Your Information

We take the responsibility of guarding your personal information very seriously.

Secure Systems: All of your information is stored in highly secure, modern digital vaults. We use industry-standard locks and security measures to prevent outsiders from breaking in.
Scrambled Contact Data: As mentioned earlier, we deliberately choose not to store the real phone numbers of your friends who haven't joined the app. By only storing scrambled codes, we ensure that even if a bad person somehow broke into our systems, they would not be able to read your address book.
No System is Perfect: While we work incredibly hard to protect your data, it is important to understand that no system on the internet can be guaranteed to be 100% perfectly secure. By using the internet, there is always a tiny risk, but we do everything in our power to minimize it.

7. Your Choices and Control Over Your Data

You are always in control of your relationship with WishYou.

Disconnecting: If you decide you no longer want us to look for new friends in your address book, you can revoke our permission through your Google account settings at any time.
Leaving the App (Data Deletion): If you decide you no longer want to use WishYou, you can choose to permanently delete your account from within the app's settings. When you press the delete button, we will permanently erase your profile, your date of birth, your phone number, and all of your connection history from our active systems. It will be as if you were never here.

8. Children's Privacy

WishYou is designed for general audiences, but it is not intended for young children. You must be at least 13 years old (or older, depending on the laws of your specific country) to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under this age. If you are a parent or guardian and you believe your young child has given us their information, please contact us so we can immediately delete their account.

9. Changes to This Detailed Policy

The world changes, and sometimes our app will change too. We might add new features or update the way we do things. When we do, we will update this Privacy Policy. If we make big, important changes to how we handle your privacy, we will do our best to let you know directly, usually by sending an email or showing a large notice inside the app. The date at the very top of this page tells you the last time we updated these rules.
